Indian Bioresource Information Network is a system of distributed databases. The portal is providing a linkages for various kind of bioresource data available within country. Presently following database is available under IBIN portal:
- Spatial database of Biodiversity Characterization at landscape level using Remote Sensing and GIS
- Species database of Bioprospecting and Molecular Taxonomy programme (BPMT).
- Species database of medicinally important plant
- Species Database of fresh water fishes.
- Field sample database of plant species collected and recorded during field sampling of DOS-DBT project on Biodiversity Charecterizations at landscape level using RS & GIS.
You can start to browse the bioresource data through linkages available in portal. The starting page will give some brief introduction about database and also a link to start your search/browse. The database is available in various level and also provide a user friendly environment for getting information. The spatial data available under IBIN portal is of national importance and comes under restricted map policy of Govt. of India. The spatial outputs are available in course resolution with basic GIS queries. To access and get the original spatial data (maps and satellite images) please visit the web site (
